The driving rain that we experienced over the weekend didn’t prevent us from enjoying ourselves. Bertie and I went to visit my parents and shared a gorgeous, fall-inspired meal with them.
My mother treated us to her exceptional baked ziti. Now, this just isn’t any baked ziti. No, no, this is alive with fresh herbs, spinach and beautiful mushrooms! I confess, I had two servings. Along with this savory delight, we had a delightful salad of field greens dressed with tomatoes, olives, radishes, carrots, pancetta, avocado, artichoke hearts and crumbled blue cheese.
To keep the fall spirit alive, the meal concluded with the perfect apple crisp. With a crunchy topping of brown sugar and cinnamon and warm, tender apples, and lovely, plump raisins, this apple crisp—served with a dollop of freshly whipped cream—was the ideal introduction to autumn.

It makes my stomach rumble! How beautiful!
Ohhhhhhh...all those lovely carbs. I'm so jealous.
They both look perfect!
That would make my day a whole lot better. Can you ship to LA?
Well, no. But, I send good thoughts.
Awesome! Looks so goooood!
Even in New York, you can't get ziti that looks that good.
I wish I could smell it!
I never had anything homemade like that. I think it looks better than any I saw in a restaurant.
I like the idea of the mushrooms! I'll try that in mine!
Too lovely!
Gorgeous!!!
Your mom always makes such good things.
Apple crisp! A favorite in our house, but again, your mom's looks better than mine.
