On this April Fool's Day, I'd like to use this color still taken in 1964 on the set of the original Addams Family television series to remind all of us that black and white film can be our friend.
So to all of you youngsters and, even, you oldsters who don't like to watch things that aren't in color--look at this. Would your experience watching the Addams Family have been improved knowing that their parlor was mauve and seafoam green? This was one of the finest, most interesting sets of its era. But, the colors--not so good. Granted, this print is faded, but still. Would your experience have been improved by color?
No.
No, it would not have been improved.
Whatever colors--or non-colors your imagination made the house--made it better.
Black and white film is your friend.
LOOK AT THIS. LOOK AT IT AND LEARN.
