This folding fan was a gift to Queen Alexandra, consort of the bawdy and buxom King Edward VII from Charlotte of Saxe-Meiningen, one of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's ten billion grandchildren...okay, there were only forty-two.
The leaf of the fan is made of chicken-skin (mmmm...chicken fan) painted with watercolo(u)r, bodycolo(u)r and highlighted with gold.
The fan was made to commemorate the silver wedding anniversary of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra in 1888.
