Every Sunday is a celebration when Bertie and I visit my parents' house. This weekend, my mother treated Bertie and me to a really exceptional feast of savory, tender roast chicken breasts in a rich, cream sauce of leeks and mushrooms. This was served up with fresh peas seasoned with thyme and brown rice pilaf. We also enjoyed some tasty pretzel rolls with it! Quite lovely!
Equally lovely was the dessert! A gorgeous lemon custard tart. Look at that!
Candied nuts shining like agates atop mounds of piped whipped cream. The homemade crust is a favorite nutty cookie recipe which adds a gorgeous texture with the creaminess of the filling. Cool and luxurious, it was the perfect ending to the savory meal that it followed.

Oh boy that chicken looks really tasty but I think the tart looks tastiest of all.
I love a nice creamy chicken dish and I love the flavory of leeks. The tart looks really delicious and so pretty.
This is a perfect Sunday dinner. We always had chicken on Sundays when I was a girl and it was always so comforting. I think everyone should do it. I never had a tart like that when I was a girl. My childhood would have been a thousand times better if I had.
Nom Nom Nom. I dream of dinners like this. I really do. MmmmMmmmm.
That looks delicious!
Can I come to your house for Thanksgiving? I guess I don't mean your house I mean your mom's house. Nobody needs you. It's your mom we want. You're okay I guess, but reading stuff doesn't keep a man's stomach full.
You know, Sam, after such a charming, heart-felt, honest request, I have no choice, but to say, "No. Go to hell."
Wow! Nobody decorates pastries like your mother does. Such a steady hand that lady has! I wish I had her talent. I'm no slouch with a piping bag either but she makes mine look sloppy.
Gimme some of that chicken! And a big hunka pie!
Beautiful. Just beautiful.
Wouldn't you know I'd skip lunch today? Now my stomach is punishing me by crying over these pictures of stunning yumsies! I love the tart!! Perfect!
Really all does look good!
The candied nuts really make the presentation complete.
