This fanciful ring of golf is topped with a shaped bezel in the form of a mermaid clasping a mirror set with an opal. It was made in 1901 by A.C.C. Jahn (1865-1947).
The piece shows the visual transition from the designs of the Victorian era which were based mostly on naturalistic themes, flowers and foliage to the works of the Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau which relied on stylized depictions of the feminine form.
