From June 30, 2012 through October 7, 2012, as part of the
celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the State
Room’s of Buckingham Palace will be open to the public. There, guests will be able to see a
spectacular exhibition of diamonds, including for the first time, an
unprecedented number of Her Majesty’s personal jewels—those which she inherited
(predominantly from Queen Mary and her mother, Queen Elizabeth, the Queen
Mother) and those which were given to The Queen as gifts during her sixty-year
reign.
Visitors will not only be able to view these exceptional
jewels, but will also be able to see the journey that many of these celebrated
diamonds have taken as they have been cut, re-cut and repurposed.
This is an unparalleled opportunity to see the glittering stones
which have been worn by British monarchs over the past two centuries. If you’re in the area, it’s an exhibition
which should not be missed. For more
information, visit the web site of the Royal Collection.
