Treat of the Week: A French Apple Tart

This week's treat is full of autumnal joy and wonderful flavor. On a thin, delicate homemade pastry crust, layers of apples have been neatly and beautifully arranged and glazed with apricot jam, butter and Calvados (a French apple liqueur). Before baking, the tart is sprinkled with sugar, and my mother added cinnamon and fresh lemon zest for a deeper flavor.

It is served with freshly whipped cream which has also been infused with Calvados. The result is a thoroughly delicious, apple delight.

I wish I could make things that pretty. If it tastes as good as it looks, it's gotta be delicious times infinity.
