For this week before Halloween, we’ll continue our look at classic “scary” films leading up to what I consider to be the ultimate cinematic Halloween treat. There’s a hint in the photo. And, I can tell you that it has nothing to do with the 1960’s film of the same name to which I link below.
We’ll take a visit to one of “America’s castles” and tour its amazing mansion and grounds. Our exploration of the world’s greatest art collections will continue with a look at the paintings of Eduoard Manet. We’ll also take a look at some unusual Victorian hair art. From my own collection, we’ll feature a beautiful sculpture, an unusual fan and a pair of rare paintings. Our “gem of the week” is an unusual and mysterious stone which rose to popularity during the Nineteenth Century. And, as always, we’ll have some glimpses into Queen Elizabeth II’s private collection of remarkable gems.
Mr. Punch will make his presence known as we further examine his influence on Art History and, of course, he’ll be center-stage in Punch’s Cousin as the residents of Marionneaux reel from the arrival of Iolanthe Evangeline.
I’ll be taking your nominations for “Humanitarian of the Year” as well as your ideas for our “Person of the Year.” I’m happy to announce we’ll have another exciting contest with a prize from the Stalking the Belle Époque store. And, if you didn’t see the preview of my new novel The Cages of Marionneaux, samples from the first two chapters are available in the menu on the upper right of each page.
As our group of readers continues to grow, I want to thank all of you for your participation in Stalking the Belle Époque. This has been an enjoyable and interesting journey. I’m so glad that we’re all taking the time to recognize the beauty around us and to ensure that we have a bright and elegant future ahead of us.
