Made in 1928 by London's Cartier branch, this lush, lead-shaped brooch of baguette and pavé diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, amethysts and one bright ruby was given by the Duke of York (later, King George VI) to the Duchess of York (later Queen Elizabeth, and, then, the Queen Mother).
Queen Elizabeth presented this brooch to her daughter, Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II) as a birthday gift during the Second World War.
