This week, for a lark, Mr. Punch and I sat down
to come up with a riddle all our own.
So, this one isn’t a riddle which has been preserved since the
Nineteenth Century, but it is certainly in the same spirit.
Let’s take a stab at it, shall we? As always, the first person to put the “right”
answer in the columns will receive “public congratulations” on this page. In the meantime, we all enjoy this little Friday
feature, so, let’s go…
What did the old length of tied rope say when it was asked to dance?
UPDATE:
Public congratulations to Matt who posted the correct answer! Good for you! Well, I guess it's good. It just means, really, that we share a similarly corny sense of humor. And, thanks to all who posted. I really enjoy your funny answers.
The answer was...
He said, "I'm a frayed knot!" (afraid not)
Meanwhile, I’d like to invite you to visit our

dear, dear, Joseph, I don't think you want me to write any of the ideas that I have as an answer for this. They wouldn't go with the tone of your site. That's why I don't try to do anything classy. But suffice it to say that I have some real doooooozies, my friend, some real doooozies.
Your self control is appreciated, April. Of course now I'm wondering what you've been thinking.
He says I'm sorry but I don't want to string you along.
Lovely answer, Sam.
I'm tied up right now.
A clever answer, Angelo. Well done.
He woulod say 'I don't wish further entanglement.' OK, that was a non smutty answer!
Remarkably clean, April.
I'm too limp.
I trust that's your answer, Book Gurl, and not a status update.
Sorry, I'm knot in the mood.
Very, very, very close, Darcy!
"Knot" now, my hands are "tied!" Wait...does an old piece of rope have hands? And if it doesn't have hands, how can it dance...? Oh, that sad piece of rope...makes me tear up a little just thinking about it.
Ha! Clever, Shawn. And, please, don't worry about the anthropomorphic rope. It has all the appendages that it requires.
I'm just hanging out
Since it's a length of rope the answer might be "My two old feet are all knotted up.".
Yipes
Oooooh, Barb...dark. Very nice. Or should I say, "very noose?"
I think that's clever, Dashwwod.
What about: 'I'm a frayed knot'?
And, we have a winner. Well done Matt. Here's a big bucket of "public congratulations" for you.
