Garrett began his career in 1984 as a Grand Champion on Star Search, quickly achieving great success as a stand-up comedian and making appearances on late night programs. His appearance with Johnny Carson led to a series of important connections that allowed Garrett to perform as an opening act for celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Diana Ross and Liza Minelli.
Now, Garrett works many jobs as a comedian, actor, voice performer, and a professional poker player. Garrett founded the charity The Maximum Hope Foundation which was named in honor of his children, Maxwell and Hope.
