Coming this Week at "Stalking the Belle Époque"

This week, we’ll be traveling to some unusual locations to find places and objects of great beauty. We’ll take a visit to The Myrtles Plantation in Louisiana. This gracious home with its wrought iron details and grand entry hall is also rumored to be one of the most haunted houses in America. And, speaking of haunted houses, as we continue our cinematic countdown to Halloween, we’ll explore the classic film, The Haunting based on the novel The Haunting of Hill House. And, no, I don’t mean the version with Michael Douglas’ wife. I mean the real one with Julie Harris, Claire Bloom and Russ “Tom Thumb, Dancing Street Thug” Tamblyn.

Our journey this week will also bring us back to the Louvre in Paris where we’ll examine one of the most famous sculptures in the world. A week at Stalking the Belle Époque wouldn’t be complete without some sparkle, so we’ll dive back into the Royal Collection to poke around the Queen’s jewelry. And, we’ll also have a look at the artwork of one of the Royal Academy’s most prominent members.

I’ve received photos from many of you who answered my challenge to share the interesting places and things you have seen. We’ll be treated to a visit to an historic Missouri town this week. And speaking of treats, I’ve got a very special, “Treat of the Week” in store.

Mr. Punch will make a few visits in appearances he’s made throughout the history of art. And, of course, he’ll be center stage in Punch’s Cousin as our blog-novel continues with Chapter 67. There’s a lot of fun in store. I look forward to sharing it with you!
