The meal began with a flavorful meal of grilled, boneless chicken-breasts, grilled with herbed oil and finished with a homemade honey glaze. A sweet and savory salsa of pineapple, avocado, green onions, tomatoes, citrus and fresh herbs was a delightful addition. Served with fresh asparagus and, a personal favorite, herbed patties of potato, rice and cheese (sort of flat arancini), the meal was a big hit with everyone. Bertie very much enjoyed his portion of the grilled chicken, but passed on the salsa as onions and doggies aren't the best of friends.
What followed was a new treat to our family. My mother prepared beautiful shortcake biscuits from scratch and two lovely compotes: one of fresh blueberries, and one of luscious strawberries and a glorious bowl of stiffly-whipped cream. We were allowed to build our own berry shortcakes in any configuration we desired, and I must say, I delighted in doing so. This is a great family activity, and, one with delicious results.

Just so wonderful. I'll make my own versions tonight!!!
Healthy and delicious meal. I go crazy for salsas like that. Yumsy! And what's more American than shortcake? Luvvvvvv!
a nice supper for a warm day. I love to grill. Looks really good and strawberry shortcake is one of my faves!
Perfection.
That looks real good.
The salsa reminds me of a salsa at a favorite little spot in Beverly Hills only better. I would eat a tire if it had that stuff on it.
That would all go down with a nice white wine. I'm drooling.
Jolly good!
So busy, haven't commented much, but always read. This looks soooooo good. Wish I could have a bite! And then a lot of bites of the little cakes.
Very, very good looking. I wish I had some.
Now I feel like chicken tonight..........and shortcake.
Wow! Beautiful!
Bellisima!
Pretty, pretty, pretty!
