Treat of the Week: The Luck of the Irish

Crisalli, as you may have guessed, is not an Irish name.  But, everyone's Irish on St. Patrick's Day.  Bertie and I visited my parents on St. Patrick's Day and we all sat down to enjoy a traditional Irish feast of heart-warming beef strew.  Tender chunks of beef in a thick, rich gravy with potatoes and carrots was joined by purple cabbage and mashed potatoes infused with the flavor of horseradish.  As an additional savory side, we enjoyed freshly-baked cheddar cheese muffins.

However, the "luckiest" part of the day was the gorgeous cupcakes my mother had made.  Chocolate and white cupcakes were iced with a swirl of creamy, buttercream frosting and adorned with beautiful green dots (which looked rather like green grainiti gold-work to me) and shamrocks.  Gorgeous work!

I almost sang "Danny Boy."  Almost.  Thankfully for those around me, I did not.

Ahhh...comfort food!! The best kind! Delicious looking stew and those muffins look super-tasty! But, those cupcakes!! Just the sight of them had my mouth watering!! Your mom NEEDS to have her own bakery! That way the rest of us poor saps can share in her delightful creations! :)

I will show you where that leprechaun bastard keeps his gold if I can have one of those cupcakes.

I'd sing Danny Boy for a helping of all of this.
