Famed commercial artist Wilfrid R. Addey (1912-1999) worked for sixty years for a variety of top  London advertising firms, drawing ads for everything from beer to pin-up girl calendars.

This gouache drawing is one of four designs that Addey  created in 1940 for an advertisement for the perfume Je Reviens from Worth.  Addey played up the easily recognizable design of the perfume’s bottle.  He has placed the blue, round bottle in at the bottom center of the page with "Je Reviens by Worth" at the top centre of the composition.

Addey makes the bottle seem almost planetary as light radiates from the bottle in brilliant shades of light to dark blue which blend with merging the dark background.  This composition combines the ethereal quality of beauty as well as implies the gentle scent of the perfume as it radiates from the bottle.
