While we all watch television and need the diversion, from the standpoint of interior design, the TV should not be the center of the room. If the television is the first thing you see when you enter a room, what does that say about you?
Your home should reflect your values and tastes. Of course, the TV should be visible and easily seen for viewing, but we don’t need to design the entire room around it. The television is a tool, an appliance. You wouldn’t create a shrine to your refrigerator, so why erect an altar to the television.
By downplaying the importance of the TV in the space, you’re allowing yourself a chance to express yourself better—your creativity, your passions and your spirit. These last longer than any television program.
