Domesticated animals have been a part of the lives of humans since the first dog wagged the first tail. The English have always had a weakness for pets, and no era has historically displayed that love more than the sentiments of the Victorian. The Royal Collection Web site offers a beautiful online gallery called, “
Noble Hounds and Dear Companions” which features a darling collection of historic photos of nobility and their pets. From the photograph of Queen Victoria with her beloved Pomeranian, Turi, to the unusual image of a naval officer with a cat on his head, this assortment of images is sure to delight you. I certainly enjoyed looking through it. I hope you do, too. The collection is also available in a book which accurately recounts the details of each image.

Look at that sweet fuzzy face! And the dog's not bad either. I love Pomeranians. Such cuties.
Pomeranians are cute. Victoria was cute, too, in her own way. Do you have a Pomeranian, Fran? Thanks for your comment!
